Autophagy
Description
A cellular process that recycles damaged organelles and proteins to maintain cellular homeostasis. Chronic activation of autophagy promotes cancer progression by enhancing protein synthesis, angiogenesis, and inhibiting autophagy, while its inhibition (e.g., by fasting) supports longevity and metabolic repair.
