Description
A serious infection caused by Corynebacterium diphtheriae that affects the throat and upper airways. Forms a thick coating in the throat and can be life-threatening. Preventable by vaccination.
Carbohydrate Dependency: Corynebacterium diphtheriae is carbohydrate-independent, metabolizing primarily amino acids and organic acids. Largely unaffected by dietary carbohydrate restriction.
