Scarlet Fever
Description
A bacterial illness caused by group A Streptococcus. Characterized by a red rash, sore throat, fever, and a 'strawberry tongue' appearance.
Carbohydrate Dependency: Streptococcus pyogenes is carbohydrate-dependent for growth and toxin production. Weakens significantly during fasting or ketogenic/carnivore diets when glucose is restricted.
