Whooping Cough (Pertussis)

Description

A highly contagious respiratory infection caused by Bordetella pertussis. Characterized by severe coughing fits followed by a 'whooping' sound. Preventable by vaccination.

Carbohydrate Dependency: Bordetella pertussis is carbohydrate-dependent, requiring glucose for growth and virulence factor production. Weakens significantly during fasting or ketogenic/carnivore diets when glucose is restricted.
